In Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, former mujahideen fighter Babrak runs a drug rehabilitation program in one of Kabul’s under-resourced hospitals. Once an addict himself, he is now dedicated to helping others recover in a country where an estimated four million people struggle with addiction.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, international aid has vanished, and public services are on the verge of collapse. With strict anti-drug policies in place, Babrak and a handful of medical staff fight to keep their program alive, offering hope, dignity, and a second chance to those society has left behind.
