The Children of the Taliban follows the lives of four children in Afghanistan, filmed in 2022, after the fall of Kabul when the Taliban reclaimed power. Ehsanullah and Abdullah are eight, are best friends, and both have fathers in the Taliban. Their lives hold two destinies, an education, and the other taking up arms. Shoukria and Arezo, are nine, are best friends, and their fathers are gone. They spend their days sitting on street corners, shining shoes for those who will pay. It helps them support their families with income, their mothers can not provide for them, they are women. The girls dream of being rich, to help whoever is poor, to take them off the streets.
